17-Year-Old Girl Injured in Overland Park School Bus Accident

A 17-year-old girl was taken to an area hospital for treatment following a school bus accident Thursday morning.  The accident occurred at Antioch Road and Santa Fe Drive at 7:47 a.m.  No other children were hurt in the accident.  The 17-year-old had injuries to her shoulder and lower back.

Although we have few details on the cause of this accident, wrecks involving school buses are always frightening for not only the children on the bus, but their parents as well.  We all expect our children to be safe when being transported to our schools, however, each year 8,500 to 12,000 children sustain minor injuries because of school bus accidents.
