6-Year Old Kansas City Child Hit on Neighborhood Street

A Kansas City, Missouri 6-year old boy was hit by a car as he crossed the street late Monday afternoon.  Witnesses said the boy, who lives on the block, saw the oncoming car, but darted out thinking he could beat the car.  Unfortunatley, the child was struck and suffered a broken leg.  Witnesses said that a teen tried to stop the child from crossing the street, but missed grabbing his arm.  Police are still investigating the crash to see if any traffic violations occurred causing the accident.

Although a broken leg in the summer is probably a pretty bad deal for a 6-year old, the young boy is lucky to have survived such an accident.  Most pedestrian/vehicle accidents cause significant injury, and more likely death to the pedestrian.
