A
tragic Kansas City auto accident Wednesday night injured two people and killed the driver's 11 year-old son. This is an accident that should never have happened. Police, while on a routine traffic stop, noticed a car driving recklessly. They were able to pull over the vehicle, which was driven by Tina Lane. When Lane was asked for her drivers license she mumbled that she did not have one and took off with her two children in the backseat of the car. Officers initially pursued the car, but quickly stopped following the vehicle.
Lane headed southbound on 71 Highway where she lost control of the vehicle and rear-ended a semi. Lane's 11-year-old son was killed in the accident, her 8-year-old suffered minor injuries. Lane was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Ironically, the location of this accident was near the scene of a
fatal crash in March of last year that took the life of a 12-year-old boy.
There are a couple of messages that the attorneys at Roswold Law Group would like everyone to learn. First, if you have a suspended license,
do not drive. The license was suspended for a reason and there is no excuse for operating a motor vehicle without one. Second, if you are pulled over for a traffic violation, never leave the scene. Leaving will put you in a much deeper predicament and, as in this case, can lead to a devastating accident.
