Ambulance involved in car accident on way to help another accident scene in Kansas City, Missouri

In Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, just before noon, an ambulance was rear ended on its way to another car accident in the Kansas City metro area.  The auto accident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m., happened as the ambulance was heading to another motor vehicle accident near Pittman Road on I-70.  No one was injured from either the ambulance or the other vehicle .  Fortunately, another ambulance was dispatched to assist with the previously reported accidents.

 

While it's always good when no injuries are reported from the scene of an accident, but we all know this isn't always the case, don't we?  It is important to remember that no matter where you are heading, law requires you to give the right of way to emergency crews such as police, fire trucks as well as ambulances.  Make sure your focus is on your responsibilities as a driving goes a long way in ensuring you know when you might need to yield.  You can do this by listening to your radio at a reasonable volume so that you can hear approaching sirens and never wear headphones while driving.  Also ake sure your mirrors are positioned to allow for best viewing around blind spots.  Use them.  And of course, save the texting and cell phone calls until you get where you're going.
