A couple in Cincinnati takes their 7-month-old baby into Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center for heart surgery. Through an
admitted medical mistake, causing multi-system organ failure. If you were a parent in this situation, what would you do-- how would you handle it?
The parents of 7-month-old Tressel Meinardi are looking for an explanation and closure in the August 21, 2010 death of their son. They are also asking for millions of dollars in a financial settlement. Later this month the couple along with officials from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center will enter into a mediation session in the hope that a costly lawsuit can be avoided and the couple can close the door on this tragedy.
The hospital reported the death to the Hamilton County coroner's office and acknowledged that alcohol was accidentally flushed through young Tressel Meinardi's body, yet no autopsy was completed. According to the coroner's office, the autopsy was not completed because the pathologist on call decided the death came from "complications of medical therapy", and classified it as a natural death. Obviously the Meinardi's disagree.
