Beware Of Re-Called Fireworks In Kansas City; 4th of July Safety Tips

It's that time year again.  Fourth of July weekend is upon us and chances are you will be around fireworks some how, some way.  If you have bought or are planning to buy some fireworks for this weekend's festivities, make sure you are paying attention to possible product recalls.  Fireworks can be dangerous as it is.  Defective fireworks can be deadly.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision has recently issued a product recall for Super Lightning Bottle Rockets because the fireworks may have an explosion that can be much greater than expected and may cause serious injury.  The recall affects products sold in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida.

While this recall doesn't affect fireworks stands in Kansas or Missouri, it's not too late to see a product recall in this area, so make sure you are keeping an eye on news reports.  If you have a firework that has been recalled, DO NOT use it.  Contact the manufacturer.

As Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers we hope you celebrate the 4th of July responsibly.  Here are a few tips to help avoid serious injury and have a fun weekend with family and friends.

Obey local ordinances.  If fireworks aren't legal where you live, DO NOT shoot them off.
Always have water close by.  Just in case.
DO NOT COMBINE fireworks.  Only use as intended by manufacturer.
NEVER relight a dud fire cracker.  Wait at least 30 minutes and soak in water.
Keep a safe distance when you are lighting and an even safer distance if you're just watching the show.
Do NOT combine alcohol and fireworks.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident because of a defective product in Kansas or Missouri, contact experienced Kansas City Defective Product and Product Liability Attorney James Roswold for a free consultation.
