Another day brings another
school bus crash in Kansas City. Thankfully this time, there were no children on board. A bus carrying faculty members from a local school collided with an SUV and another vehicle around 7:30 this morning at the intersection of 75th and Prospect Avenue. Police say no one on the bus was injured. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital to treat injuries.
As a parent, its scary enough sending your child off to school to be in the care of others for hours at a time, but it can be even more stressful when you have to worry about their safety when you have no control of the situation. With three bus acciedents in the past two days,
Kansas City parents may begin to worry about the quality of skill in their child's bus driver.
Since 1990 there have been over 1,450 school bus related fatalities with only 9% of those deaths being victims from the school buses. It's more dangerous to be in an accident with a school bus than it is to be in an acciedent on a school bus. Bus drivers however, need to be fully aware of the responsiblity they are carrying with them. Most times they are going to be the biggest thing on the road. The bus should be driven accordingly, to ensure the safety of our children and others on the road.
