Can Cell Phones Distract Kansas City Pedestrians and Lead to Serious Injury Accidents?

At Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys, we've never been shy about talking about the relationship between cell phone use and dangerous distracted driving techniques but we've overlooked pointing out that cell phones can be just as dangerous for a pedestrian--

A pedestrian was killed when she was making a call with her cell phone and walked into one of the southbound lanes an intersection.  The woman was struck when a pick up truck slammed on its brakes to avoid her and she ran into the path of another vehicle and was hit. The woman died at the scene of the accident.

Our Kansas City Personal Injury Attorneys have seen enough pedestrian injury accidents to know that the fault in these accidents on the whole, lies with both motorists and pedestrians. Yes motorists need to follow proper traffic laws-- speed limits, stop signs and pedestrian crossing right of way-- but pedestrians also need to make sure they are paying attention to traffic and signals and not solely depending on someone else to prevent the accident.  If you're not paying attention-- how do you know they are?

We'd like to remind all motorists to please practice safe and attentive driving techniques to ensure the roads are safe for everyone, including pedestrians.

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury as the result of a car accident in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation.
