The Consumer product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of approximately 635,000 cribs after the death of a six-month-old infant and dozens of reports of safety hazards.
The cribs are recalled after one death and ten injuries. The CPSC received 31 reports of incidents where the drop side detached. When the drop-side detaches, it creates a space in which an infant or toddler can become trapped and suffocate or strangle. In one of these incidents, a 6-month-old from Cedar Rapids Iowa became trapped and died in the crib. There have also been 36 reports of slat breakage and six reports of entrapment.
Several models of the cribs will be discontinued. The cribs were manufactured in China and Vietnam and sold at Wal-Mart, Kmart and Sears stores nationwide from January 2005 to December 2009 from $120 to $700. You can click
