Child Hit by Car in Olathe, KS. Suffers Serious Injuries

Pedestrian injury accidents aren't uncommon.  At Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys, though, it seems as if we're seeing more and more accidents every year that are happening in front of or close to our neighborhood schools.  Last week in Olathe, Kansas, a 14 year-old girl was involved in a hit-and-run accident outside Olathe East High School. The pedestrian-child injury accident happened on as the young high school student was crossing 127th Street.

Thankfully, the teenager's injuries that were not expected to be life threatening. Police say the driver of the vehicle originally continued to stop but eventually was pulled over in a nearby neighborhood.

A lot of our information, especially pedestrian safety is aimed at child pedestrian safety, but the overall message is educating parents and children about the dangers of crossing streets and the proper way to do it. As experienced Kansas City Child Injury Lawyers, we hope this student is able to fully recover from the injuries suffered in this needless accident.

We want to encourage all Kansas and Missouri parents to sit down with their children and discuss the importance of pedestrian safety. Sometimes we forget they are children and when they are out playing, common sense isn't always used wisely. It is the responsibility of parents to make sure their kids know what to do in these dangerous situations.

We'd also like to encourage all motorists to drive slowly and attentive through residential neighborhoods and be on the look out for children and teenagers crossing streets in or around schools, whether they are elementary schools or high schools.

If you have a child that has suffered a serious injury in a pedestrian-automobile accident in Missouri or Kansas, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses. Don't try and face the insurance companies on your own, call our experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Attorneys. With over 15 years of experience in Child Injury Accidents including Auto Injury and Pedestrian Injury accident cases, we may be able assist you and your family through this difficult and stressful time.
