Child Injury and Death from Being Left in Vehicles Could be a Problem in Kansas City, Too

If this story has the impact we think it will, Kansas and Missouri parents will hopefully be a little more alert than they might normally be on their way to work. A traumatic situation developed last week in the United States territory of Puerto Rico when a woman allegedly forgot to drop her child off at day care and went to work. Later that afternoon, the child was found trapped in the vehicle and was taken to a hospital where the 21 month-old boy was pronounced dead.

The woman who was a doctor at a medical facility in Puerto Rico, has not yet been brought up on charges as officials have yet to determine any level of neglect.

At Roswold Law Group, our experienced Kansas City Child Injury Attorneys are saddened by this death but we also know there is a fine line in determining neglect in this case. Unfortunately this is a growing problem in the United States and something that is not impossible to have happen right here in Kansas and Missouri.

Some of these problems may be attributed to laws mandating children should be left in rear facing car seats. Others argue there is no excuse for "forgetting" your child in a locked car. But leaving a child in a locked car like this isn't always a sign of neglect but most often a sign that a parent is distracted, not getting enough sleep, experiencing sudden life changes-- or all of the above.

If you have a child who has suffered a serious injury in an accident in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation. Call our experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers. With over 15 years of experience in Child Injury Accidents and Fatalities, we may be able to help you and your family get through this difficult and often stressful time.
