Children Medication Recall from Johnson & Johnson and McNeil Consumer Healthcare

Two drug company giants have recalled four very popular medications geared toward improving the health of children.  McNeil Consumer Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson have recalled the following children's and infant's products: Benadryl, Zyrtec, Motrin, and Tylenol. 

The official press release came on last Friday from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The FDA announced that all of these drugs had been manufactured in at least one way that violated the standards and internal testing requirements set forth by the FDA.  It is unclear just how each drug violated these nationally held standards, but the FDA has said that some may have contained too much of the active ingredient. 

However, the FDA has made very clear that generic versions of these drugs have not been deemed unsafe.  Those generic brands have followed standards to date, and pose no threat to the consumer.  Also, these recalls do not mean that the adult versions of these drugs are unsafe.
