Cooler Weather in Missouri Brings out the Deer in Kansas and Missouri

As the weather gets cooler, the white tailed deer become more active, looking for new hiding places as the leaves fall off the trees. Which means, they may be crossing roads and highways. If you are driving in rural areas especially, you should be more aware.

The first few weeks of November then begins breeding season for deer.  They will also be wandering looking for mates and motorist may be able to spot them much more often.

When you are driving, be alert; slow down; drive cautiously through rural areas especially; watch the shoulder and ditches on the side of the road for hiding deer; use your brights whenever possible.

There is a saying that when there is one deer, there are more.  So be sure to slow down and watch for more when you see one dart to the road.
