We will probably never know what happened Monday night around 10:30 p.m. when a 76-year-old DeSoto woman drove her car the wrong way on K-10 Highway crashing into another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was injured and is expected to recover, but the 76-year-old woman, Dorra Ellen Henning, was killed in the accident.
According to the Kansas HIghway Patrol, Henning drove several miles, with cars swerving to avoid her, before the accident occurred. One car was forced off the highway, leaving that driver with minor injuries, in order to avoid hitting Henning.
At Roswold Law Group, we are concerned about our elderly drivers in Kansas City. As we age, our reflexes aren't as quick as they were when we were younger. Road signs can often be confusing to an older driver, especially at night. As
experienced Kansas City Auto Accident Lawyers, we think it is important for elderly drivers and their families to know when it might be time to give up the keys. AARP has put together a list of warning signs to know when to limit or stop an elderly person from driving.
AARP Warning Signs for Elderly DriversLet's work together to keep our Kansas City streets safe for everyone.
