Discovery Kids Recall of Marine Lamps and Safari Lamps
On February 9th, Discovery Kids did a recall of their Discovery Kids Animated Marine Lamp (model no. 1627121) and their Discovery Kids Animated Safari Lamps (model no. 1627124 & 1628626). An overlooked defect on the circuit board of the lamp puts it at risk for potential combustion, and over 350,000 lamps have been recalled.Already, seven families have reported incidents of the lamp bursting into flames. Of those families, three have reported damage to property, and one has reported child injury. A young child suffered from smoke inhalation as a direct result of the lamp combusting.
The lamps are rectangular in shape and consist of a silver base and a silver top-covering. The center of the lamp inolves a rotating background, and stationary animal figures. In the upper left-hand corner of the lamp is the logo Discovery Kids.
The United States CPSC urges owners of this lamp to take immediate action and discontinue use of the lamp immediately. Innovage is willing to submit to a full refund, and you can contact the company at www.lamprecall.org.
