Doctors Developing Tech that Could Monitor Football Players for Brain Injury

At Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys, we have been following the developments in the NFL as serious head injures and concussions have become a growing concern for players.  In fact during the first half of the 2010 season, concussions were up 21% from the year before.  The NFL has tried to end head to head contact hits by fining guilty players but its going to take more than that.

Help could be on the way thanks to the work of Dr. Hashem Ashrafiuon, a mechanical engineering professor at the University of Villanova.  Dr. Hashem is part of a team developing a computer chip that may be able to record brain wave data and transmit it immediately to the side lines where coaches and trainers can analyze it to determine if a football player has suffered a brain injury.

If successful this technology would allow doctors to monitor the brain health in victims of mild to traumatic brain injuries, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, mild brain impairments, sleep disorders and serious brain illnesses like Alzheimer's Disease.  The MindScope System is expected to be ready in 2014.

Our experienced Kansas and Missouri Brain Injury Attorneys, want to remind you that no head injury should go without being checked out.  Even minor head injuries can lead to permanent long term brain damage down the road if not diagnosed early enough.  Head injuries can be extremely dangerous if they go untreated.

If you or someone you love have suffered a serious or traumatic brain injury in an accident in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses.  If you are facing battle in court you will need someone in your corner you can trust.  Contact our experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers.
