The KCPD unveiled a brand new DWI Enforcement Vehicle that will serve as a command center at DUI Checkpoints, not only this weekend but in the future. The $400,000 vehicle was funded by the Missouri Department of Transportation and is built to last.

St. Patrick's Day produces more DUI arrests than just about any other day of the year in Kansas City. But the fact is, drunk driving is a problem year round in Kansas City. According to the KCPD, 63 percent of Kansas City's auto accident fatalities in 2010 were caused by a driver under the influence of drugs or alcohol. There were 1,661 DUI arrests in 2010.
