Ford Motors is recalling over 33,000 mid-size vehicles from its 2010 line including SUVs in the United States to fix a possibly malfunctioning recliner in the seats. According to Ford's announcement, the gears in the recliners could fail and cause the seat back and head restraint to move toward the rear of the vehicle in case of a crash, which would seriously increase risk of injury. Currently, the vehicles don't comply with federal requirements for head restraints.
Models affected by the recall include some versions of the 2010 Ford Fusion, the Explorer, the Explorer Sport Trac and the 2010 Mercury Milan and as well as models of the Mountaineer that include the front seat manual recliners.
Whether or not you notice, products are re-called every day. It may be a baby swing or a type of peanut butter. Maybe you're one of those people who likes to live dangerously, especially if its an inconvenience to do what must me done. If you or someone you know owns one of these vehicles. It's a free service, all it's going to cost you and is time and that should be worth your family's safety.
Ford dealers are offering replace the manual seat recliners free of charge. All you have to do is call Ford at (866) 436-7332. If you are unsure if you're vehicle is involved in the recall, give Ford a call, just to be safe.
