Good News - Roadway Deaths Down Nationwide and in Kansas and Missouri

How about some good news?  At the Governor's Highway Safety Association annual meeting held on Monday in Kansas City, it was reported by the National Traffic Safety Administrator, David Strickland, that traffic fatalities are down nationwide, as well as in Kansas and Missouri. 

What's the number one reason for the decrease in traffic deaths?  Increased seat belt use nationwide.  Strickland reported that nationwide seat belt use is up to 85%, while Kansas and Missouri report in at 82% and 75%, respectively.  Kansas acutally increased their seat belt use by five percent since 2009 by introducing a primary seat belt law which allows police to pull over and ticket individuals not wearing their seat belts.  Missouri has no such laws.
