Anyone can be involved in a car accident. Even the most experienced drivers can be involved in a serious injury accident if they aren't driving safely. An accident over the weekend in eastern Missouri is a prime example of how a fatal accident can occur when you least expect it.
A
Hawk Point Missouri Police Chief was killed in a single vehicle auto accident on Friday. According to reports from the scene of the accident, 37 year old Paul Fricke was on duty at the time when he lost control of the car he was driving. He went off the road one way, then over-corrected, which caused him to veer of the road in the other direction and crash into a utility pole. It was unclear if Officer Fricke was involved in a pursuit at the time of the crash.
As
Missouri and Kansas Auto Accident and Injury Lawyers, we know that distracted driving is the number one cause of single vehicle crashes. Next is speeding. While we don't know if the officer was chasing a suspect at the time, it is possible. However, we do know that these accidents can be avoided by simply putting distractions aside and giving the road your full attention.
We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of the victim in this tragic accident but we hope it serves as a lesson to all motorists in Missouri and Kansas to always practice safe and attentive driving technques whether you are driving on city roads or our state highways.
