An afternoon bike ride in Kansas City, Missouri turns frightening for three boys who became the latest hit-and-run personal injury victims on Monday afternoon around 5:00 p.m. The three boys, two brothers and the son of a babysitter, were riding their bikes on 53rd Street near Highland in Kansas City when two of the boys collided with a car. The two boys were stuck underneath the vehicle for a minute, then the car took off, leaving the children at the scene of the accident, victims of hit-and-run.
The boys were taken by ambulance to an area hospital for non-life threatening treatment. The police are on the lookout for a white 4-door car with a possible missing side mirror.
Although they may not feel like it, the boys in this bike vs. motor vehicle accident were incredibly lucky. Because bicycles do not provide any protection, unlike a car, accidents of this nature often have devastating injuries to cyclists. At
Roswold Law Group we hope the police are able to track down the driver that left the scene of this accident. Unfortunately, the experienced attorneys at Roswold Law Group often find that hit-and-run drivers do not have insurance, which is illegal as well as likely to leave victims of personal injury without recourse in an accident case such as this. Kansas and Missouri roads need to be safe for all those that utilize the roadways: cars, trucks, bicycles, motorcycles. Defensive driving and paying close attention to the surroundings is the best way to avoid an accident and we suggest everyone review our
Bicycle Safety Tips.
