Two men working at the Owen's Corning Plant in the Fairfax District of Kansas City, Ks., were critically injured in an accident on Wednesday morning. The two men were offloading a truck, when a machine malfunction caused scolding hot asphalt to pour onto the workers. The accident happened around 8:00 this morning. Firefighters were called to the scene. After being rescued, the two workers were rushed to Kansas University Medical Center where they are being treated in the burn unit. Officials say the asphalt was between 350 and 450 degrees when it spilled.
Sometimes it isn't enough to simply follow the rules. Accidents happen and the scary thing is you just never know when they are going to happen. The only thing you can do, is to make sure you are following company policy and handling machinery in a proper fashion. Work related accidents can happen anywhere, whether you are working at McDonalds, an office or a movie theater. However, working a construction site or a factory or plant can mean that the possibility of a serious accident is always present. It can be something as simple as a splinter, or a twisted ankle. But sometimes as in this case it can be very serious. Dealing with a work related injury can be very difficult and create a lot of stress around the home. Not only are you worried about your job, but the stress of any physical rehab can take quite a toll, not to mention worrying about money that could be lost with any time off the job.
The Kansas and Missouri accident and personal injury attorneys of the Roswold Law Group wish a speedy recovery for both men involved in this unfortunate accident. If you've been injured in a work related accident, you should know your rights.
If you or someone you love has been injured on the job you may have a personal injury claim. Contact experienced work related accident and workman's compensation attorney James Roswold and the Kansas City personal injury lawyers of the Roswold Law Group for a free consultation.
