Bonner Springs Police in Wyandotte County are planning DUI check-point for undetermined Friday nights through-out the summer. Those suspected of being under the influence will be subjected to a field sobriety test. Of course the exact time and location of said DUI checkpoint is being held, but the warning is clear. The message is also being reinforced on the other side of the state line. Police in Raytown, Mo. are planning on upping their efforts as part of a state wide crackdown on drinking and driving. The action isn't attempt to ruin anyone's fun, but to bring down the number of
alcohol related accidents and fatalities in Kansas City.
In statistics gathered by
www.alcoholalert.com, there were 364 alcohol related fatalities in 2008, while there were 157 on the Kansas side in the same year.
With the weather warming up as quickly as it has been, sometimes the natural instinct after being trapped in the house for the winter is to get out and cut loose. For some this means hitting bars and clubs or maybe the lake or even just kicking it at a friends place for the evening. If you're planning on doing a little drinking when you're out and about remember to think about how you're getting home first. Designate a designated driver or make sure you have someone on call that is willing to pick you up. Your friends and family would much rather get a call from you at 3:00 in the morning because you need a ride as opposed to a call of doom.
The
Kansas City drinking and driving attorneys at the Roswold Law Group hope that you party responsibly and use your best judgment, not only this summer season but always. If you or someone you know have been injured in an alcohol related accident please explore your options by seeking legal advice.
