Kansas and Missouri Truck Drivers Reminded of Train Crossing Safety after Fatal Collision

At Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys, we are always horrified when we hear about train accidents, especially when it involves a passenger train.  In Maine last week, the driver of a tractor-trailer truck was killed in a bizarre collision with an Amtrak train in Norther Berwick, Maine.  There were 112 passengers aboard the train at the time of the dangerous accident.

Our experienced Kansas and Missouri Trucking Injury Lawyers want to remind all motorists, whether you are driving a big rig, a motorcycle or a car to respect the laws at a train crossing intersection. Here are some safety tips to follow as a motorist

SLOW DOWN and prepare to stop when approaching a train crossing. Not all crossings have light signals. Pay attention.  Trains are wider than the tracks. Maintain a distance of at least 15 FT. clearance on either side of a train crossing.  Always LOOK BOTH WAYS. Don't always focus on a train coming from one direction. be prepared for a train to come from the other direction as well.

LISTEN. Roll down a window if weather might make it difficult to hear an approaching train.

If your vehicle should get stuck on a rail road track. GET OUT of the vehicle immediately and call 911.

As experienced Kansas City Trucking Injury Lawyers, we work hard to protect Kansas and Missouri truck drivers after trucking accidents. This is a situation that can happen any where including right here in our home state. Use common sense when trying to cross a rail road track. Never try and beat a train. If a train is approaching, STOP. It is nearly impossible to judge the speed of a train. Don't take foolish risks. Drive Safe. Drive Smart.

If you or someone you love have suffered a serious injury in an accident involving a semi-truck or big rig in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses. We want you to know your rights as a victim. With over 15 years of experience in Trucking Injury Accidents our experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Attorneys may be able to help you and your family through this difficult and often stressful time.
