Kansas City Accident Injures Three; Cause of Crash Under Investigation

Authorities are taking a careful look at a tragic auto accident that injured three people early Friday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.  Police were called to the scene which took place at 31st Street and Indiana just before 8:00 a.m. Friday morning.  The driver of a silver Buick Century hit a parked truck along 31st Street.  The driver and her 3-year-old daughter suffered minor injuries in the crash.  The passenger,the sister of the driver, was trapped in the vehicle for 45 minutes as rescue crews attempted to extract her from the car.  She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. 

This one sounds like a pretty straight-forward accident, however, there are conflicting reports of how the accident occurred.  The driver indicated that she was traveling eastbound on 31st Street when another vehicle forced her into the parked truck as that vehicle passed her across the double yellow lines.  Witnesses indicated they did not see another car passing the Buick. 

Another problem is the driver indicated the daughter was in her child safety seat when the accident occurred, but authorities were unable to locate a child safety seat in the car.
