- Freezing rain on Wednesday morning in St. Louis turned road ways into skaing rink for early morning commuters. The winter storm, which hit the area around 5:00 a.m., caused multiple accidents including a 20-car pileup on I-64 near downtown St. Louis. On an icy hill near downtown 20 cars and two semis were involved in a multiple-car crash that injured 21, one critically.
As fire trucks and ambulances responded to the accident, however, they became victims themselves because of the poor road conditions. The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to 60 accidents in the area according to Cpl. Jeff Wilson.
Although Kansas City managed to miss this storm, we do have poor weather conditions forecasted for our area on Thursday. Because of the warmer temperatures, this storm could be anything from rain, sleet, freezing rain, or snow for the Kansas City metropolitan area.
