Kansas City Man Charged with DUI after Rollover Crash Injures his Three Children

Many people know their limits while they are drinking and are smart enough to avoid getting behind the wheel of a car or truck after having too many drinks. What some people don't know is that alcohol can stay in your system even after you think you've been drinking, and just because you don't "feel drunk" doesn't mean you aren't already pushing the legal limit for being drunk.

A scary situation in Leavenworth, Kansas showed how dangerous the effects of alcohol especially when a drunk driver decides to break the laws of the road as well.  A 29 year old was apparently drunk at the wheel of his SUV when he was involved in a rollover accident that injured his three children, who were riding in the SUV at the time of the drunk driving accident.

 

According to neighbors and witnesses, the crash may have been caused by an attempt at street racing. Police determined the driver of the SUV that crashed had a blood alcohol content of nearly double the legal limit. Three children riding in the SUV were injured in the accident. One of them, a 4 year-old, was taken to a hospital but was released after treatment.  According to Leavenworth Police the kids were in seat belts but not proper child-car restraints.
