Kansas City Motorcyclists, Like it or not, Helmets are Safer

Motorcycle safety is something we take very seriously at Roswold Law Group.  Avoiding a serious accident may not always be possible and with serious accidents come serious injuries.  Because a motorcyclist is far more vulnerable to serious injury because of how they are exposed to direct hits from cars and pavement, a rider or passenger must take proper steps to try and prevent injuries.

Motorcycle helmet laws are different in every state.  Take a look at how our these laws differ from state to state with these factoids:

  • Three states don't have any helmet laws- at all.
  • 21 states, including the District of Columbia, have universal helmet laws.
  • 27 states have age-specific laws that require minors but not adults to wear helmets.

It may surprise you to know that the states that have child specific helmet requirements have an injury rate that is 38% higher than those with universal helmet laws.  Many experts believe the only way to make it better is to make helmets mandatory for everyone, regardless of age.

If you would like to read more about how to find the best motorcycle helmet for you and your passengers, check out "12 Steps to Chossing the Best Motorcycle Helmet", in our extensive library database.

Our experienced Kansas City Motorcycle Injury Attorneys hope that when you are on the road, whether you drive a car or a motorcycle you are doing all you can to protect yoruself in the event of an accident.  Maybe helmet laws aren't mandatory where you live but wouldn't you feel better knowing if the worst does happen you and your child passengers are safe and protected?

Helmets offer no guarantee that you will avoid all injury, but being that severe head injuries are the most common injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, you're better off with one than without one.  Protect yourself and your children while riding your motorcycle.

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury in a motorcycle accident in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation for losses, including medical bills and even lost wages.  Contact the Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers of Roswold Law Group.

With over 15 years of experience in Motorcycle Injury Accidents and Child Injury cases, we may be able to help your family through this difficult time.  Call our office today to schedule a free consultation to discuss your case.
