Kansas City Motorcyclists May Prefer Novelty Helmets but They Don't Offer Enough Protection

Are you a motorcycle rider in Kansas or Missouri?  We'd love to hear your feedback on this topic, which has been a fiery debate since motorcycle helmet laws began popping up in the 70's.  We can all agree that motorcycle helmets save lives.  It's a fact that the number one cause of serious injury and death in the event of a motorcycle crash is traumatic head injuries.

Helmets don't necessarliy prevent all head injuries but they can dramatically decrease your chances of a catastrophic head injury if you are involved in an accident.  While most motorcyclists have fought helmet laws from the beginning, many have found a sort of loop hole.  Novelty helmets.

Novelty helmets, for example the popular turtle shell helmet, give a rider more mobility, better vision, allow a rider to hear apporaching vehicles, etc. and are lighter and more comfortable.  But they don't offer the same protection that state regulated full head and face protecting helmets provide.

Main Causes for Motorcycle Crashes in Kansas City

Traditional motorcyclists want a choice of which style they wear, if they choose to wear one.  They argue that proper rider training and safety training can help avoid accidents as much as helmets prevent injuries in case of an accident.  Granted, these riders know that expert skills alone won't prevent crashes but they certainly can help.

As Kansas City Motorcycle Accident and Injury Attorneys, we hope you do what is best for you and your continued health.  We know many motorcyclists have made hundreds of rides without accident and many riders don't wear helmets.  However, it only takes one crash' one head bump to the pavement and it could all be over quickly.  Please, until the perfect head is developed, protect yourself.  Ride safe.  Ride smart.  Arrive alive.

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury as the result of a dangerous motorcycle crash in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation for you losses.  Contact the experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers of Roswold Law Group.  With over 15 years of experience in Motorcycle Injury Accident and Wrongful Death cases, we can help you.  Call us today and set up your free consultation.
