Kansas City Police Officers have been back to school. Back to driver's education, actuallly, in order to cut down on the once increasing number of officer invovled "preventable" accidents.
In 2008, there were 149 injury accidents involving Kansas City Police Officers, the peak of a growing trend that saw the number of accidens steadily increase over a three year period. It was at that time the KDPD began requiring its officers to under go driver safety training courses. Since the project begain, nearly 600 members of the KCPD has completed the first round of training and the department saw a decrease of preventable accidents. Only 97 were reported in 2009, a drop of 35%.
The experienced Kansas City Auto Accident and Injury Attorneys at Roswold Law Group applaud the department's efforts in working to improve driver safety, which in turns helps keep the roads safe for all motorists. Kansas City Police officers are far too often drawn into dangerous high speed pursuits, which nearly as often lead to a car crash and serious injury either for the officer, their suspects and even innocent motorists.
We'd like to encourage all Kansas and Missouri motorists to practice their safe and attentive driving techniques. Look into taking a driver's education with your child or a friend or loved one. Maybe you've been driving for thrity years and maybe you're just beginning, but as they always say, practice makes perfect. Always driving smart. Follow traffic laws and keep an eye out for other motorists.
Let's keep the roads safe for everyone.
