At Roswold Law Group, we see far too many Kansas City auto accidents caused by distracted and inattentive drivers or by motorists who are in too big of a hurry to follow simple and necessary traffic safety rules. These accidents can be even more dangerous when they involve Emergency Vehicles.
Such and accidedent happened last Saturday when a Police Officer was involved in an accident at Independence Road and Hardesty in Kansas City, Missouri. The injury car accident was caused when the Officer neared the intersection, flashing lights and sirens. Once traffic came to a halt, the officer attempted to cross the intersection the police car was struck by a pick-up truck with tried to go around and/or through the stalled traffic.
There were four passengers in the pick-up, two women and two children. The two adult women here hospitalized with injuries suffered in the crash. Thankfully the kids and the officer were free of injury.
Our experienced Kansas City Auto Accident Lawyers hope that the emergency the officer was en route to was not severely affected by the responding unit being involved in a traffic accident. Flashing lights and sirens on a police car, ambulance or fire truck mean one thing. Get out of the way. It only takes a moment to slow and pull over to allow the emergency vehicle(s) to pass.
We ask that all motorists in Kansas and Missouri respect the brave men and women who work to protect and assist all of us. Never try to beat one of these vehicles to a destination spot in hopes your journey isn't slowed down. You can almost guarantee every time the police, medics or fire fighters are going to be on their way to something far more important.
Safe driving techniques and paying attention go along way in preventing these senseless and all too preventable accidents.
