Head 'em up, move 'em out. That is what
Kansas City road crews on both the Kansas and MIssouri sides of the state line did in the wee hours of the morning on Monday. Kansas City's first winter blast of 2011 looks to put our city's snow removal process to the test.
On the Missouri side there is good news. According to Mayor Mark Funkhouser, the budget for snow removal has been increased $250,000 from last year and the city of Kansas City, Missouri now has access to 67 snow plows, compared to just 40 last year. The goal is to not only keep the major thoroughfares clear, but to add residential side streets to the city's snow removal process.
In Kansas, the Public Works department reported that crews started in on snow removal in the early morning hours of Monday and are working in 12-hour shifts. Both sides of the state line are first focusing on keeping the main arteries clean.
Roswold Law Group encourages everyone that can stay in during this winter blast to do just that - stay home. If you must get out, this is the time to use extra caution when traveling our city streets. Slow down, wear your seat belt, and be a defensive driver. Inclement weather, particularly
