Jerry Christensen of Rock Springs, Wyoming is leading a campaign to raise awarness for survivors of traumatic brain injury and a not for profit organization called The Brain Shift Foundation. Who is Jerry Christensen, you ask?
Jerry is a survivor of
serious brain injury suffered in a bicycle accident when he was only 15 years old. He was in a coma for a week and paralyzed for nearly two. Doctors told him he would never fully recover and be able to do normal things like go to college or hold a job. Through his own will and detrmination, Jerry has gone on to do both and now is on a solo bike tour to raise awareness for TBI and the Brain Shift Foundation. He's even trying to get the attention of the Guinees Book of World Record in an attempt to get published for the longest solo bike tour.
As
Kansas City Brain and Spinal Injuries Attorneys, we'd like to congratulate Mr. Christensen on his amazing recovery. We know that not all victims of traumatic brain injury fully recover but we hope that Kansas City TBI sufferers look to Jerry for inspiration. Full recovery may not always be the end result but having a positive attitude and a sense of self determination can go a long way in determining how much you are able to recover.
