Kansas lawmakers are meeting today to continue a proposal to ban cell phone texting while driving. The bills which are supported by Kansas transportation officials would allow police to hand out traffic violations as well as fines in excess of $100 if drivers are caught texting and driving. The state of Missouri already passed a similar bill last August which makes it against the law to text and drive if you are under the age of 21.
The only problem with passing this bill is going to be upholding it. Most people will ignore these laws because they will be difficult to enforce unless someone is actually involved in an accident because of such a violation. It's unfortunate that many people don't learn that lesson until a serious or fatal car crash results. If you are someone that sends texts while driving, here are a few stats to keep in mind next time you are tempted to use that cell phone in your car:
The accident and injury attorneys of the Roswold Law Group encourage you to practice safe driving techniques and avoid doing anything that might distract you from driving in order to keep the roads safe for everyone. We see personal injury victims in our office year after year as a result of the catastrophic and sometimes deadly car wrecks that occur due to drunk driving and texting while driving. The best Kansas City personal injury lawyers have more than enough business due to these unnecessary car accidents and know that promoting safety awareness is one of the best ways to improve driver safety and the welfare of Missouri and Kansas drivers. DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE!
