KC Area Concerned About Recent Chicken Nugget Recall

Perdue Farms Incorporated has had to recall almost 46 tons of chicken nuggets.  This astonishing recall came in light of multiple consumer complaints and an investigation conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The announcement for the official recall was made this past Monday, and the Kansas City area has expressed concern over this very common househould food.  It is difficult for most parents to pay extensive attention to and be able to recall the product names that they buy when going grocery shopping.  But this shocking story has many calling home and the daycare center to make sure that there child is not ingesting this potentially hazardous chicken.

After multiple complaints were filed to the Perdue Farms Company, a trend was noticed.  Many of the consumers reported finding pieces of blue plastic lodged into their chicken nuggets.  Obviously, this shocked many parents because this is a potential choking hazard, especially for younger children.  To add to that concern, foregin materials can cause internal damage as they pass through the digestive tract.

These consumer reports sparked an investigation from the USDA.  Upon investigating, the USDA was able to pinpoint the contaminated products and how to identify them.  Their findings fall in line with the same ones reported in the consumer complaints: little blue pieces of plastic.

There are several ways to identify these bags of chicken nuggets.  First of all, you can look at the labels on the bag-style packaging that read: "GREAT VALUE," "Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets," or "Perdue Farms."  The bags come in 13 and 16-ounce sizes and have the following establishment number and case code: P-33944; 89008 A0160.

If you believe that you have purchased or your child has ingested one of these chicken nuggets, we urge you to contact the USDA at 1-877-727-3447 or by visiting their website.

If a child you love has suffered as a result of a child injury or accident situation, we urge you to call anyone of our Kansas City-based Child Injury and Accident Attorneys immediately.  With over fifteen years of experience, we are more than prepared to take on your case today.
