August is here and the theme of the next month on the highways of Kansas and Missouri is going to be migration. The start of the new school year is just around the corner and its about time the college freshman class begins to depart for new destinations all over Kansas, Missouri and beyond. Moving into dorms and apartments often means transporting furniture to campuses near and far.
Remember, no matter how far your trip is, loose items such as mattresses, box springs, televisions, dressers, etc. must be properly tied down and secured before you hit the road. An accident in Topeka this week showed just how dangerous it can be when something isn't properly secured and it nearly had catastrophic consequences.
Four cars were involved in a
multi-vehicle car accident on I-470 in Topeka, Kansas that was caused when a mattress flew off the back of another moving vehicle. Several people were injured. At least five here hospitalzied, some have suffered serious injury in the accident.
