Earlier this week, a little boy narrowly escaped death as he
free fell for seven stories and survived. This shocking account comes with another twist: the little boy didn't even have a scratch to show for his fall!
The incident has left many wondering how this is even possible. But the details provide a bit more insight. The little boy was on the seventeenth floor of a tall building when he managed to get onto a balcony, over the rail, and land in the tenth floor pool area below. But he didn't land in a pool; instead, the child first made contact with a palm tree. This had to have broken his fall, and from there he tumbled onto a softer piece of "landscaping." Again, this also had to have broken his fall quite a bit.
But seven stories? Is a palm tree branch and a pile of dirt or shrubbery really enough to save one's life from such a fall. The only other suggestion comes from FAA specialist, Dr. Richard Snyder. Dr. Snyder has studying many other similar falls much more extensively. He reports that he is in no way survived by the
child's survival and lack of injury. Dr. Snyder purports that this is normal because children have softer bones and higher body fat ratios that more readily protect them from serious injury, whereas adults have more solid bones and lower fat ratios that would not protect them from a serious fall.
