A fatal car crash closed the northbound lanes of 71 Highway near the Red Bridge exit around 2:50 Wednesday morning in Kansas City, Missouri. Witnesses reported a Trans Am carrying two men was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the car. The car crossed three lanes of traffic and crashed into a guardrail, ejecting the passenger. The car continued on, coming to rest in the middle of the highway where a Mazda rear-ended the Trans Am, ejecting the driver of the Trans Am.
Both men from the Trans Am were rushed to an area hospital for treatment of critical injuries. The driver later died of his injuries. Authorities are withholding names pending notification of family members. The accident shut down northbound 71 Highway for over four hours while authorities investigated the scene and cleared the highway.
The personal injury attorneys at
Roswold Law Group would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the driver in this horrible car accident. Additionally, we hope for a full recovery for the passenger. Unfortunately, as
Kansas City Accident Injury Lawyers all too often we see the catastrophic injuries resulting from automobile accidents. Although authorities have yet to release the details of this motor vehicle accident, being ejected from a vehicle is often times the result of not wearing a seat belt. Authorities did report the vehicle was speeding when the car crash occurred. Let's use this car wreck as a solid reminder to all Kansas and Missouri drivers to always wear your seat belt and to maintain your speed within legal limits.
