NY Fire Dept. Considers Fees For Auto Accident Response: Could Kansas City Do the Same?

Imagine getting into a car accident.  Someone runs a stop light and hits you.  It's all their fault and it's obvious.  Your car catches fire, you break an arm.  The fire department shows up and puts the fire out.  An ambulance arrives to give you a lift to the hospital.  Before you get in to go, your friendly neighborhood fire fighter hands you a bill for their services,a nearly $500.00...and you have to pay it, even though the accident wasn't your fault.

it's not a reality yet but it could be, especially if the Cash for Crash program works out in New York City.  Cash for Crash fees include$490.00 for a vehicle fire or "incident with injuries", $415.00 for a vehicle fire without injuries and a $365.00 charge for all other vehicle injury responses. Insurance companies are already telling customers if they get one of these charges, it won't be covered.  That's right, a nearly $500 charge just to put out a fire in an accident that's not your fault.  Bummer.

Currently Kansas City and St. Louis have no plans to go this route, but the way many cities across America, especially KC are struggling with city budget problems it could be a possibility in the future.  The problem is, most people can't afford to be in an auto accident as it is.  There are medical bills if you're injured, maybe you miss out on some work.  What about legal fees.  The bills mount up and on top of that, the people that have always been there to help are going to start charging for their services?

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury in an auto accident in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses, including lost wages, medical bills and even legal fees.  Don't go it alone, contact the experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Attorneys of Roswold Law Group.  With over 15 years of experience in Auto Injury Accidents, we may be able to help you through this difficult time.  Call our office today to schedule a free consultation to discuss your claim.
