Platte City Fire Trucks Collide, Sending Five Fire Fighters to Hospital with Serious Injuries

Yesterday, a two vehicle collision garnered a lot of attention across Kansas City but this wasn't your typical two vehicle auto accident. This one involved two fire trucks, en route to an emergency in Platte County, Missouri and collided head-on. Five fire fighters suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in the tragic collision. The pumper trucks were both from the same station and heading from separate directions when they were unable to avoid each other on Highway HH.

While there is no explanation for this crash, it offers an example of an accident that should never happen but unfortunately does.  While no other vehicles were involved in this accident it is important to remember it is our duties as citizens to yield the right of way to the brave men and women who act in emergency response whether it be to fires, criminal or medical emergencies.
