Recent Accidents get Brownbacks Attention; Could Cable Barriers Prevent Fatal Car Crashes on K-10?

Highway 10 has become one of the most increasingly dangerous stretches of highway in the state of Kansas and now Governor Brownback has ordered the Kansas Department of Transportation to take measures into making it safer-- especially through Douglas County.

In light of the most recent crossover accident on Kansas Highway 10-- a fatal crash that claimed the lives of a 24 year-old man and a 5 year-old child, which has raised further concers among daily commuters-- Authorities are now pushing to have cable barriers installed to help prevent these dangerous crashes.  KDoT has considered the safety measure in the past, but have concluded that K-10 didn't need them. Governor Brownback is now getting involved and would at least like to see rumble strips added to the stretch of K-10 that runs through Douglas County, in addition to reconsidering the use of cable barriers.

Our experienced Kansas City Auto Injury Lawyers are in full support on any ideas that are designed to make a particularly dangerous highway safer. Rumble strips have proven to be useful and have already been credited for helping limit catastrophic and fatal car accidents in Missouri. We also know that it's going to take more than putting in rumble strips or median cables.  As always, the best way to prevent these serious injury crashes is to simply avoid distractions and be a defensive driver who is prepared to react to anything that happens on the road.
