Rollover on I-70 in Kansas City, Kansas Sends Nine to Hospital

A rollover crash caused by a two car accident along I-70 near 57th Street in Kansas City, Kansas sent all nine occupants of a van to area hospitals Tuesday evening.  In this case five adults and four children were the victims.

One of the major causes of a vehicle rollover during an accident is simply the type of vehicle involved.  Studies have shown that vans, SUVs and trucks are the most susecptible to rollover during a crash.  The overriding reason seems to be the high profile of these types of vehicles combined with a short wheel base, which makes the vehicle "top-heavy".  Unfortunately, in accident situations, the swift maneuvering required to avoid a crash is frequently the reason for the rollover.
