School Bus Crashes In Kansas City A Result Of Wet Conditions

Recent bus crashes in the metro area have Kansas City parents concerned about bus safety.  One crash, which had no injuries despite at least 20 kids being on board happened out in south Overland Park on 159th street and Roe Boulevard.  The bus went off the road and hit a guard rail.

Another crash, this one happened around 7 a.m. in Blue Springs, Mo., reported at least six injuries afterwards.  In this case the bus lost control and hit a utility pole on U.S. Highway 40 and AA Highway.  Five of the children on the bus suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital as a precaution.  The driver of the bus wasn't so lucky and needed to be freed from the wreckage by emergency crews and is also in the hospital, having sustained serious injuries.

 

Tips for driving in wet or rainy conditions

 

When any car crash happens in rainy or wet conditions its almost always because the driver is failing to make proper safety adjustments to the weather.  No matter how good of a driver you are or think you are, all bets are off when weather is a factor.  You can only control so much.  Be sure you are giving yourself plenty of time.  Slow down and use your car's equipment, such as the defrost, headlights and of course wipers.
