Seven tips to help you avoid being a victim of Kansas City hospital error

3. Bring a buddy. Have a friend or relative help to catch mistakes.
4. Ask your nurse what the plan of care is for each day. If the day deviates from the plan, ask questions.
5. Ask for copies of the results all tests, including biopsies, pathology reports, blood tests, and X-rays. Ask for results if you don’t get them.
6. Read all prescriptions. Make sure the drug you receive matches the prescription.
7. Get a copy of your discharge summary. It will list the at home care you require and any follow-up visits that you need.
