Oh, this is sad. Anytime you cover the death of a child, it's going to be difficult and when it is an infant it is even harder to accept. To see a child lose his or her life in an accident that very easily could have been prevented is always hard to deal with. This is a case in Georgia, but it is something we are seeing more and more of right here in Kansas City.
A
three month-old boy was killed in the parking lot of a Kroger's Grocery store when his car seat fell from the cart as his mother was pushing it to the car. Authorities have confirmed that while the child was secured into the seat, the seat itself was not secured to the cart. The child was taken to a nearby hospital where he unfortunately was unable to overcome the injuries and passed away.
Many of us at
Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys are parents ourselves and there are many things I'm sure we all do or have done that may not exactly have been the safest thing to do. Sometimes you make a decision that may save time but may also put your child in harm's way, even if just for a moment. Saving a few minutes though should always come second to protecting your child.
If you're out shopping with your infant, always make sure you properly secure your child's seat to the stroller and/or cart. These carts should have instructions as to how to properly secure your seat. If not, find someone who works there who may be able to help.
We know protecting your child is your number one priority. Checkout our new site for The Roswold Foundation for more information on our continuing effort to protect child injury victims in Kansas and Missouri.
