Some Kansas Highways Will See Increased Speed Limits to 75 m.p.h. on July 1st

Fourth of July weekend marks the beginning of a faster era in the state of Kansas-- at least for a few sections of the states more secluded highways.  On July 1, 2011 seven different stretches of highway will see an increase in speed limits to 75 mph speed limits, including three touching the outskirts of the Kansas City area.

The State of Kansas has released the increased speed highways:
  • The Kansas Turnpike from Kansas 7 in Wyandotte County to the Oklahoma line.
  • Interstate 35 from a spot just east of the Sunflower/Edgerton interchange in southwest Johnson County to U.S. 50 east of Emporia.
  • U.S. 69 from 199th Street in southern Johnson County to north of U.S. 54 near Fort Scott in Bourbon County.
  • Interstate 70 from just west of Topeka in Shawnee County to the Colorado state line.
  • Interstate 135 from I-70 near Salina to a spot north of the 85th Street interchange in Harvey County.
  • U.S. 81 from I-70 near Salina north to Kansas 106.
Our experienced Kansas City Auto Injury Lawyers want to remind you that every year, nearly 11,000 people die in speed related crashes which makes up a shocking 1/3 of all auto injury crashes. We want you to be safe on the highways. I-70 can be dangerous enough as it is. Pushing the speed limit, or making it legal, isn't going to make the roads any safer.

Drive Safe. Drive Smart. Keep our Kansas and Missouri roads safe for everyone.
