Workplace accidents happen in many ways, and often quite suddenly. Such is the case with a furniture store worker in O'Fallon, Missouri who was killed recently in a tragic work-related accident.
The employee had gone to the store's warehouse to retrieve furniture for a customer, who was purchasing a love seat. When he failed to return, the manager went looking for him. He found him pinned between the love seat and a stock picker, which is a machine that is used to lift and lower heavy items such as furniture. Apparently, the employee was using the picker to retrieve the love seat.
The manager lowered the man to the ground, called 911 and started CPR. Unfortunately, attempts to revive him failed and the man died later at the hospital. He has not been identified at this time. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the accident. OSHA had no record of any complaints against the O'Fallon store, going back to 1972.
