Suburban St. Louis School Bus Accident Injures 11; How Safe is Your Child on a Kansas City School Bus?

"School Bus Accident".  No one ever likes to see this in a headline.  But in suburban St. Louis, that was exactly what heppened when a school bus was hit from behind on Monday morning injuring 11 students.  According to the superintendent of schools of the Fox School District, Dianne Brown, the Clyde Hamrick Elementary students on the bus were stopped to allow another student to board when the bus was struck from behind by a pickup truck.

Both drivers were injured as well as 11 students.  The students were taken to an area hospital as a precautionary measure.

Sadly, most school bus accidents occur when the bus is stopped to load or unload students.  Each year there are approximately 8,500-12,000 children that sustain minor injuries - bumps, bruises and scrapes in school bus accidents.  More concerning is the fact that there are 350-475 children that suffer major injuries such as broken bones and internal injuries and there are normally around 22 children killed each year.  Of the 22 killed, 16 are fatally injured during the loading and unloading process.

Although these statistics are alarming, the attorneys at Roswold Law Group feel they are important to share.  As experienced Kansas City School Bus Accident Attorneys, we also encourage you to share, at an age-approprate level, these statistics with your children that ride the bus so they know the dangers to look our for on a daily basis.

If you have a child who has suffered a very serious injury in an accident while riding a school bus, please contact the  Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers or Roswold Law Group.  With over 15 years of experience in Auto Injury Accidents including school bus accidents and Child Injuries, we may be able to help you and your family through this situation.  Call us today to schedule a no cost appointment to discuss your case.
