Teen Suffers Serious Injury When Hit by Trash Truck; Child Bicycle Safety in Question

Riding a bike is a part of everyone's childhood.  Injuries happen.  Falling off your bike is a part of the game.  As a kid though, as safe as you try to be, you always assume motorists are doing what they are supposed to be doing...paying attention.  Bicyclists are far more prone to serious injury if involved in an accident with a vehicle and that risk of injury goes up with the size of the vehicle.

 

Yesterday in Overland Park, Kansas, a 13 year-old girl was hit by a trash truck near 95th street and Moody Park.  The girl suffered serious injury and was taken to a local hospital where she is being listed in critical condition.
