A one-year-old girl burned at daycare, and her parents left with few answers. Could this scenario be anymore upsetting to a parent whose child had to suffer because the people they entrusted with their child may not have been paying attention?
In
Clarksville, Tennessee, Tayana Harris was dropped off at her daycare just like she is most days, but before her stay ended, her parents were called up because their little girl had suffered from severe burns. Her little right hand was burnt when she was using a faucet and the water was too hot for her skin to handle. But was anyone watching her? Did someone leave the heat on incorrectly? Or could this even be intentional? Well, daycare officials don't have answers to these questions at the moment.
After Tayana was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she was diagnosed with third degree burns on her right hand. These burns were treated, but in doing so medical officials began to question their origin. Child abuse was one of a few possibilities the doctors visited.
But the officials at Tayana's daycare just don't think that could be true. Apparently, the teachers and staff had tended to the little girl for most of her 12 months of life. They even went so far as to say they "loved" Tayana and her siblings very much and this could never have been intentional. But still, the daycare has yet to release any official opinion on the matter because their investigation is still pending.
